Identity, the way of a People
When the Honorable Silis Muhammad, (we) began working on the international level, to achieve independence. Many of the unlearned charged (him/us) with “begging,” thinking that our efforts were seeking reparations at the time.
Little, did they know, that one doesn’t go to the United Nations seeking reparations. You go to the UN, to address issues and problems between nations and peoples, or in our case, seeking “recognition” as an independent people.
Whereas, on the world’s stage, due to forced assimilation, we were classified under the domestic identity of the caucasian american’s. That, yes we exist, but, as a clone or duplicate of them.
His mission was seeking “recognition” of a separate, and independent identity, as a people from that of the caucasian americans. Which, over a course of time, was achieved for you – Afrodescendants.
In the process came the unity of 250 million black people, who, like we, have a similar history in the slavery diaspora, in the americas, north, central, and south.
You understand now? Good!
